King of Pop Still Making Headlines

Michael Jackson Pepsi CanMichael Jackson, or as he was often called, the King of Pop, is still in the news nearly three years after the legendary performer passed away. And with that, we’ve found a couple noteworthy items that are definitely worth checking out.

The English recording artist Adele, who’s song “Rolling in the Deep” helped earn her 6 Grammy awards, including the coveted “Album of the Year” this year for her album 21, has even more accolades to add on. 21 has officially surpassed MJ’s classic Thriller for 5th on the best-selling album list in the U.K.  Adele is about a million albums away from over taking the #2 spot held by The Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, and the #1 spot is firmly held in place by Queen’s Greatest Hits with a remarkable 5.83 million records sold in the U.K. Click here for more info.

And Pepsi just announced that they will begin a campaign in a few weeks for the 25th Anniversary of Jackson’s album Bad. The classic album will be re-released for the anniversary, and is slated to include remixes from Skrillex, A-Trak and more. The promotion is based on the Pepsi/Jackson partnership that began in 1983, and will include one-billion special edition Pepsi cans with MJ’s image on them (as shown in the top right), TV ads, “Bad” inspired jackets, and more. If you can’t get enough of Michael Jackson, catch the tribute group Who’s Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band live on-stage on June 1. A clip of the group performing is below.
