Canadian pianist and singer Diana Krall is known for her lush contralto vocals and strikingly sensitive piano-playing. She’s transcended barriers of genre to become a popular artist who has carved herself a permanent position at the top of the jazz charts. In addition to eight Juno Awards, Krall has won Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal and Best Jazz Vocal Album. She’s also the only jazz singer to have eight albums debuting at the top of the Billboard Jazz charts.

Diana Krall was fantastic! This was our first time to see her perform and we hope she returns to the American Music Theatre.
Back when Diana and I were competing in the same music festivals around Seattle and Vancouver in the mid '80s, she wasn't singing. She was playing, and playing well. Her trio moved from British Columbia down to California and was gigging around San Fran when they decided to do a song that just cried out for a female voice.
Diana volunteered to sing from the piano bench, and the rest is history.
I see her whenever she's in the same town where I am. Gal gets my fifty bucks, or whatever her cut from my tickets is, every single time.
You should see her too, and get as close as you can so you can see the three of them jam together. That's half the fun.
Sure, jazz is a kind of music that mostly only the players like. But if you start to understand what they're doing, you'll start liking it too.
The nice thing about Diana is that she plays jazz like nobody's business, then turns on that voice and sings a ballad like Sarah Vaughan. So if you don't like jazz, you still get great singing you can relate to.
I've seen Diana Krall perform live at least ten times, and there is a consistent feeling to that band's performances that keeps me coming back. It's energy, girlish good humor, camaraderie, sublime musical teamwork and an access to musical emotions that you just don't get any other way but with a good jazz trio fronted with a great voice.
This is a good time for grownups.
Diana Krall has to be reincarnated from the 30's and 40's with her mucical taste and performance. Diana lights up the piano with pure electricity
